Founded on the principle of living every day inspired, Kira David Design helps clients realize their unique vision for their homes.
In an everything-right-now world, at KDD we’ve learned to value the process of helping clients transform their interiors. We pride ourselves on thoughtfulness and longevity.
Kira’s fascination with interiors and how they impact our experiences began as a young girl watching her mother and father lovingly restore an old house over fifteen years. She holds a certificate of interior design from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and a bachelor’s in musical theater performance from Columbia College Chicago. In addition to Kira’s formal education in architecture and interior design, she has a background in fine art and classical ballet.
She started her career as an interior designer and project manager for a Chicago-based home remodeling company, where she helped clients navigate the home renovation process. Kira’s immersion in the art world influences her refined aesthetic and eye for detail. A world traveler, Kira is passionate about finding new influences and unique sources for design inspiration. Her experience and vision allow her to deliver spaces that are beautiful, functional, and uniquely you.

Kate grew up in the northern suburbs of Chicago constantly rearranging her room and repainting her walls—with her mother’s blessing. Gifted with a creative streak, she spent a lot of time in art classes and throwing pottery. In 2018, she graduated from Illinois State University with a degree in interior design.
After college she accepted a position in a luxury residential interior design firm in Chicago. She had always planned on going into commercial design, but a residential internship in Chicago changed everything. She loved the intimate connections formed with clients, contractors, and vendors.
Her favorite part of the job is creating a sense of home for her clients and making a positive impact they can feel in their day-to-day lives. Watching people light up when they see their spaces is the most rewarding feeling for her. When she’s not at work, you can find her scrolling Facebook marketplace for antiques, watching Bravo, and spending time on her family’s boat on Lake Michigan.
Growing up Emily played violin around the U.S. and Europe, and through her travels she fell in love with architecture and design. Originally attending school for music education, she realized her future was in designing spaces and she pivoted to the New England Institute of Art in Brookline, MA, majoring in interior design.
Emily graduated with both the Excellence in General Education as well as the Senior Project Award. After graduation, she wasn’t quite ready to sit behind a computer, so she decided to get her hands dirty and pursued a career in floral design. Emily worked for ten years in the floral events industry on weddings and events from Maine to Miami, including a wedding that was published in People magazine.
Towards the end of her 30’s she was ready for a change and was introduced to Kira by a mutual friend. Emily joined the KDD team and found even more fulfillment and creative challenges designing interiors than she did designing flowers. Emily loves to think through how people use space—both as a whole and at a very detailed level—and frequently applies her strong organizational skills to ensure installations go as smoothly as possible!
